Harlequin Princess - Marine Projects Princess 37
For Sale - £49,950 (Sensible offers considered) Currenly lying Burnham-on-Crouch Welcome to Harlequin Princess, the web site dedicated to my princess 37, pictures, descriptions, her systems and electronics and lastly, and regretfully why she is now for sale. History Harlequin Princess (although not her original name) was built and completed in 1980 by Marine Projects in Plymouth. She spent the first part of her life as a corporate hospitality boat off the coast of Scotland. A number of years later she was sold to a company in the midlands, the exact name of the company is not known but it did contain the name Harlequin. It was at this point she was renamed Harlequin Princess. Her third owner purchased her and set about a full restore. Her hull was stripped back and several new coats of epoxy was applied before repainting and polishing. The boat was totally rewired, with both 12v and 240v throughout. New stainless fuel tanks and water tanks were installed and then 2 band new Ford Mermaid Mariner heavy duty engines were installed. To finish off, the interior, headlinigs and fresh water systems were replaced with new up to date systems. For summer, air conditioning was fitted, and for winter a 3kw blown air diesel heater was fitted. To power all this away from shore an 8kw Westerbeke diesel generater was installed. Finally the radar arch was replaced with a custom stainless version that easily lowers down to get under those low bridges. Due to family commitments, her third owner could no longer use her and we bought her 2 years ago. Since then she has had a new chart plotter and DSC radio. Also installed was a split charge system so that the domestic battery bank is kept charged while under way. Situation Harlequin spent the first half of her current ownership in Swansea in Wales, and then early in 2007 was moved to Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex. I spent many happy hours on her both sailing and maintaining the boats systems with my father, who passed away early this year. It was a difficult decision, but I have decided that the boat holds too many memories and it is now time for something new. She is a 'Y' shaped hull profile, better known as a semi-displacement hull. She has 2 135hp Ford Mermaid diesel engines and twin rudders which give her a comfortable economic cruising speed of 7-8 knots and maximum speed of 12-13 knots. Along her hull under the waterline she has outlets for 2 sea toilets, and inlets for the water cooling for each engine, intake for water cooling of the generator and intake for the reverse cycle air-conditioning. In addition she has fittings for the depth sounder and speed log. Her upper hull is painted and polished white and is generally in very good condition with few scratches or scrapes. She has her name on each side of the bows and on the stern. On the bow there is a an anchor, attched to approx 40m of chain and then another 10m of rope. This is securely fixed to the inside of the chain locker. There is also an exectric windlass to aid retreval of the anchor, and a chain counter which indicates in metres how much chain has been released. Down each side of the boat are several sets of stainless steel cleats, and rails which run down each side of the boat. In addition there are grab rails along the roof and front deck. On the roof there is heavy duty stainless radar arch which houses antenna, radome, GPS antenna, spotlights and radar reflector.
